Camping in the Redwoods

We spent the last weekend of Spring Break at Big Basin Redwoods

 State Park. It is the oldest state park in California and is filled with giant Redwood Trees, some as old as 2,000 yrs old! Wow! Its was really nice there and beautiful and captivating. The kids would have liked to stay longer, so we will have to find a time we can do that. It is really close by, but the windy mountain road makes it take about an  hour.  (Fred got cussed out by a local for not pulling off and letting traffic pass. To his credit, he did pull off a few times. The kids said "What did that man say", but it was not

 repeatable!)

We tent camped and Fred is used to doing with other guys. We will need to add a few things to  his HUGE camping list (Ed knows what I mean!) for me to join them more often.  Like a table cloth and S'more supplies, just for starters.  And something other than hotdogs for lunch AND dinner. I

 said we need something with the hotdogs, Fred said "We are having something with it, buns and ketchup".  He was serious...

A few of the famous old growth giant Redwood trees we saw were Mother and Father of the Forest. Did know Redwoods are mostly fire resistant and only if the area around them has been cleared and regrown with other types of trees will the really burn? They can even spontaintiously "rain" by expelling stored moisture from

Skyler got sick with something similar to Strep, but with a cough. Poor little guy was lifeless with fever a few times. Thursday is Take Your Kids to Work Day at El Goog. I think they should rename it "Amber Celebrates Life Day", cuz thats what Im going to do. Starting at a StarBucks and ending at an H&M. Are you on twitter yet? It has be extremely hot here. As in 108 on my cars temp reader and 95 in the shade. I dont know what that says about summer here, no one else seems worried. We have used the pool with no heater. It was cold at first, but okay after a bit. But remember we dont have AC (except for a little window unit in the back of the office). There are a few ceiling fans, but Fred discovered that they were all broken in different and hilarious ways.
