It was summer hot here most of the week and then it really cooled down last night. The Santa Cruz mountains are right next to us and you could see stormy clouds billowing on the other side. Usually the storms stay on that side of the mountain and we just get the fog rolling down. I was hoping to go to the beach this weekend, but not if it the wind is too cold. Im still stoked that we are so close to these beautiful beaches, but I have to be patient for the weather to be warmer.
We somehow managed to break the pool a few weeks ago. When the Harringtons were here the hottub wasnt bubbling up like it should, and the waterfall (between hottub and pool) wasnt going. When Pool Guy came this week he said it was fine at first and then decided something was clogged. There is a huge language issue with me and Pool Guy, so I dont know what happened. But from the mud puddles everywhere later that day, Id say the blew out the hottub. Whatever, it works now! Id say end of month or May we will be using the pool fulltime!
We have met a few really nice families recently. We have been invited to spend some time with another family at a beach house that a friend of theirs lets them use. That is next weekend, I think. Over Spring Break. We are really looking forward to that! Ill send a link to the house once we know the exact location. All I know is it is on Highway 1 near Pescadero and his a private beach. There are very few homes around there, so I cant really picture it. Archer is good friends with their son and we have him over or Archer goes there almost weekly now.
The other family we met through Skyler's preschool. I see their Nanny after school at the park (the park where I found a man hiding in the bathroom last week) and then Skyler went to their sons birthday party this weekend. Turns out they are in our neighborhood weekly for soccer practice, so we went down and met them last night. Very nice people who moved here from Austin 6 yrs ago. We have Skyler scheduled for playdates for really the first time ever.
Tickets are super cheap to Hawaii from here, so I see that as an upcoming trip for us. Anyone want to meet us in Hawaii? Fred and I love Maui but the kids will probably like Oahu better.
There is so much for them to do there, and we have a friend that lives there Id like to visit. Seriously, let me know. I think Cancun is off our radar for awhile. With all the violence in Mexico, I think we will change up our annual vacay.
I call this photo "Fred: On a budget". Im buying canned beer, its much less expensive... Im also into reading blogs about shopping/cooking on a budget. I recommend Weekly Grocery Deals and $5 Meals . I use the first to see what is on sale at the grocery stores and the second just facinates me! Maybe one month Ill try it, shopping over the week for the best deals and then cooking for a whole month in one day! Not sure I have the freezer space for that. We have really cut out all eating out, and save it for when we are at the beach or exploring on the weekend.
